“Cēsu Brūža Rūgtais”, made by Cēsu alus that is the largest brewery producing beer in Latvia, has been awarded with the “Claret spoon”. “Claret spoon” award is a sign of quality that confirms the high quality of the product and it’s origin- the beer is brewed in Latvia. The certificate of conformance is given by the Food and Veterinary service, testing the relevant product beforehand.
“Claret spoon” is included in the National food quality scheme and is given to products that conform to the raised quality requirements, and its complete processing cycle takes place in Latvia. Consumers can spot these products by a claret spoon symbol on the packaging with a note “Quality product”; at the bottom of the symbol, it says “Made in Latvia”, therefore confirming that the complete processing cycle of this product has taken place in Latvia.
Brūža beer is a specially made beer series by the chief brewer of Cēsu alus Māris Grambergs, it consist of three main beer types- Brūža Samtainais, Brūža Nefiltrētais and Brūža Rūgtais. In the winter period, the series is complimented by a porter type beer.
