JSC Cēsu alus is expanding its range of ciders and is offering fans of natural cider a new Latvian-made brand – the cider Dārza Sidrs (Garden Cider in English). It is a natural semi-dry cider with a bouquet of flavours characteristic of Latvian orchard fruits and berries. The cider has three different flavours: apple, quince and gooseberries. The cider is prepared by using fermented apple juice and natural flavouring from fruits and berries, it has no added sugar.
Maija Vikmane, Marketing Department Manager at Cēsu alus: “Since the main principle of Cēsu alus is continuous innovations and development, we decided to offer a new brand of cider on the Latvian market, taking into account the growing popularity of craft ciders. This segment is continuing to grow in Latvia and the demand for natural, semi-dry cider drinks is increasing, especially during the summer season.”
The volume of investments for developing the new product reached EUR 70 000. The cider Dārza Sidrs is filled in 0.5 litre bottles, and it contains 5.5 % alcohol. All three types of cider are available for purchase from the beginning of May.
JSC Cēsu alus has been the leader of the cider market in Latvia for more than five years, taking up 42.80 % of the market share by sales volume in 2015 (according to Nielsen data). Out of all the products of the cider category offered by Cēsu alus the absolute leader of the Latvian cider market is the premium class cider Fizz.
