Two products of Cēsu alus received the highest award at the international competition Baltic Beer Star 2017. Brūža Ķiršu sārtais beer received the Gold medal in the fruit beer category, and Ulmaņlaika kvass was awarded with the Gold medal in the traditional fermented kvass category.

Within a couple of years, Brūža alus brand has conquered its place in the Latvian beer market and has become one of the favourites among beer lovers. In the beginning of this year Brūža beer series was complemented by Brūža Ķiršu sārtais beer and according to data provided by the market research company Nielsen it got into top of fifteen bestselling beers in Latvia.

The success of the product is based on several factors- the favourite Brūža beer brand, the excellent quality of the product and the great flavour. At the moment, there is a trend and demand in beer market for beer with fruity flavours. Our advantage is that Brūža Ķiršu sārtais beer contains natural cherry juice, and it forms 15% of the beer. And the other awarded product – Ulmaņlaiku kvass – is one of the few naturally fermented, real kvass on the Latvian market, and we are happy that it has been noticed and acknowledged.”

Brūža alus is a series of beer made by Māris Grambergs, the Main Brewer of Cēsu alus. This beer brand entered the market three years ago and has earned the acknowledgment among consumers and beer enthusiasts. There are several beer types included in the Brūža series- Samtainais (Velvety), Rūgtais (Bitter), Nefiltrētais (Non-filtered), Grauzdētais (Roasted). In the beginning of this year, it was complemented by Ķiršu sārtais (Cherry Red) beer, and the novelty of this autumn- Riekstu un medus porteris (porter with nut and honey flavour).

Baltic Beer Star 2017 is an international drink competition where experts and tasters of the industry evaluates products that are applied for the competition. The aim of this competition is to popularise beer and malt based products as Latvian national products, promote the production of qualitative and safe products and raise their competitiveness. The competition is organised by the Latvian brewers association in collaboration with Beer, malt and kvass association “Alus brālība”.
