At the closing ceremony of the Sustainability Index 2019, Cēsu alus, the largest brewery producing in Latvia received the highest sustainable business rating – Platinum category for the third year in a row. This year Cēsu alus has reached the highest overall rating in its history – 94.5%. In addition, the company received a special award from the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia – Most equal company for seniors 2019. Cēsu alus is also one of the seven companies in Latvia participating in the Sustainability Index for ten consecutive years since the establishment of this assessment in 2010.

The high rating in the Sustainability Index confirms that Cēsu alus is purposefully working with social responsibility and sustainability issues. We have implemented many activities and projects to be more efficient, socially responsible, caring for our employees, customers, environment and society. We are proud of the achievements of Cēsu alus and the fact that our employees, customers and partners appreciate and implement reliability, excellence and innovation.

In 2018, Cēsu alus had made numerous improvements to the work environment and business processes to provide customers with the highest quality products and service levels. In 2018, Cēsu alus was awarded the Quality Management System Certificate ISO 9001, which complements the already existing BRC Global Standard for Food Safety certification. Investments have also been made in modernising equipment, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring energy efficiency. In 2018, the environmental management system certificate ISO 14001 was obtained, confirming the company’s responsible attitude to environmental issues. Taking care of sustainable working life, Cēsu alus organises special events for its senior employees: healthy lifestyle lessons and master classes, as well as Cēsu alus Pensioners Club, established by the initiative of Cēsu Alus management, which has celebrated its 5th anniversary and is fully implementing its mission: to build and maintain the sense of belonging, emotional and social links of the workers who have reached the retirement age with the company and improve the quality of social life for seniors.

JSC Cēsu alus participates in the evaluation of the Sustainability Index since its introduction in Latvia in 2010. In the first three years, JSC Cēsu alus received a Silver rating, but with a purposeful development of the company’s operations and sustainability performance, from 2013 onwards, the company’s performance in the Sustainability Index was awarded with a Gold level certificate, and from 2017 – Platinum level.
