Cēsu alus offers Latvian beer lovers a chance to broaden the experience of beer delight and get to know the famous beer brand in Finland – Sandels. The beer brand Sandels is imported from the holding company Olvi Oyj of Cēsu alus.
The beer brand Sandels is the third most favourite beer brand in Finland and is highly evaluated in the export market – in Sweden, Russian and Ukraine. The second largest beer brewery in Finland Olvi Oyj has been producing the beer brandSandels since 1971, selling and realising 20.03 million litres in 2010. In January, the beer Sandels import to the Latvian beer market also began by Cēsu alus which is included in the beer manufacturing concern of Olvi Oyj.
The beer is made in honour of a much respected Scandinavian war colonel and politician, who is famous for a large number of battles won, great sense of humour and big appetite for beer. Colonel Johan August Sandels was a war hero, gentleman and gourmand, who appreciated the taste of excellent beer even on the battle field. One of his most popular mottos was: “We will always succeed when accompanied with a fighting spirit and good beer!”
The Chairman of the JSC Cēsu alus Board Eva Sietiņsone-Zatlere: “Sandels is an excellent quality premium segment beer. Alongside the beer brand Heineken popular worldwide, which we import from its country of origin – the Netherlands, this will already be the second import beer in the product portfolio of Cēsu alus. Sandelsis a high-quality example of the classical Finnish brewery that allows learning more about the Scandinavian beer culture and nuances in flavour.”
The beer Sandels is manufactured from the highest quality raw materials, embodying the valuable experience of the Finnish traditional brewery. The beer contains 4.7 % alcohol and is packaged in a pint-size (0.568 l) can; available on the market this week.

Joint stock company Cēsu alus is the second largest beer brewery in Latvia and the oldest beer brewery in Northern Europe. 99 % of the voting shares belong to Finnish concern OLVI Oуj.
