The winner of Cēsu Premium National Edition can design competition revealed

The jury of the Cēsu National Edition competition recognised the can design created by Atis Jekabsons (Atis Jēkabsons) as the most successful. Atis Jekabsons will receive the grand prize for his winning can design – 1000 euro and his created design will be submitted to manufacturing.

By evaluating 449 submitted designs in compliance with the requirements, the jury of the competition chose the winner, taking into consideration both the originality of the design, creative solution and the submitted design’s compliance with the competition theme and Cēsu Premium beer brand.

Atis Jekabsons in his can design has pictured a powerful symbol characteristic of Latvia – a great oak-tree, indicating that “only in Latvia there is still such a large number of great oak-trees!” The oak has been a symbol of Latvian masculinity and strength for many years. The oak also symbolises longevity and the mightiness of Latvia’s intact nature. The legends tell: “where oaks used to grow, there peasants found a fertile soil”. The can design is interesting also, similar to nature, with its several design elements, including animals and birds characteristic of Latvia, which can be noticed only with close observation.

Cēsu alus initiated the competition on the creation of the design to Cēsu Premiumcan series on January 2 this year – a dedication to the characteristic values typical of Latvia, events and things that inspire us in our land. This competition is already the second campaign of Cēsu alus to be carried out, within the framework of which the beerconsumers had a chance to participate in the creation ­of Cēsu Premiumimage, making a contribution to the development of the overall Latvian beer package design. The new Cēsu Premium National Edition can series will consist of several cans, out of which one – created by the winner of the competition – will be available at Latvian department stores this spring.

449 designs in compliance with the requirements were submitted within the period of one month – all of them can be seen on the website of the competitionwww.cesupremium.lv, where the fans of beer and design voted for the TOP 10 most stylish, interesting, creative or simply visually good-looking designs. The winner of the first prize received 1411 votes in the online TOP 10 voting. The TOP 10 best design authors will receive consolation prizes from Cēsu alus.
